چکیده

Abstract Peat is a soil that has high compressibility property beside having low bearing capacity. Due to these problems, the peat not suitable for construction purposes. Coconut waste an example of agricultural waste. In context environmental sustainability, use coir in geotechnical applications desirable. This research was conducted study stabilization by using Coir Fibre Ash (CFA) partially replacing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) improve physical and characteristics. Geotechnical laboratory experiments involved this are moisture contents, organic fiber content, Atterberg limits, specific gravity, Unconfined Compression Strength Test (UCS), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX). study, CFA as stabilizer were used at mixture ratio 5, 10, 15 20% OPC replacement. Based on UCS test carried out, it found optimum strength each showed decrement pattern if compared cement stabilized (PC). The results SEM shows structure untreated becomes denser after stabilized. due cementing process. EDX carbon content decreases while calcium increases process executed. Therefore, be pozzolan material can reach up 200kPa

Permeability Characteristics of Compacted and Stabilized Clay with Cement, Peat Ash and Silica Sand

The present paper investigates the influence of stabilization with cement, peat ash, and silica sand on permeability coefficient (kv) of compacted clay, using a novel approach to stabilize the clay with peat ash as a supplementary material of cement in the compacted and stabilized soil. In order to assess the mentioned influence, test specimens of both untreated and stabilized soil have been te...

Utilization of Cement Kiln Dust and Fly Ash in Cement Blends in Saudi Arabia

Cement kiln dust produced in a local cement production plant in Saudi Arabia, along with fly ash resulting from combustion of heavy fuel oil in a local power generation plant were utilized as waste materials blended with ordinary Portland cement at various ratios. These blends were tested for their water requirements for normal consistency, initial setting times, and compression and tensile str...

Performance evaluation of cement stabilized fly ash-GBFS mixes as a highway construction material.

Fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) are major by-products of thermal and steel plants, respectively. These materials often cause disposal problems and environmental pollution. Detailed laboratory investigations were carried out on cement stabilized fly ash-(GBFS) mixes in order to find out its suitability for road embankments, and for base and sub-base courses of highway pavements....

Coir Fibre Reinforcement and Application in Polymer Composites: A Review

Increasing concern about global warming and depleting petroleum reserves have made scientists to focus more on the use of natural fibres such as bagasse, coir, sisal, jute etc. This has resulted in creation of more awareness about the use of natural fibres based materials mainly composites. In past decade there has been many efforts to develop composites to replace the petroleum and other non d...
